Old Fountain City dates back to around 1900, making it one of the oldest neighborhoods in Knoxville. Homes in this neighborhood are primarily Victorian and Bungalow styles. This neighborhood, with its own small downtown feel around Hotel Avenue, was once the home of the Fountain Head Hotel, developed in 1890 as a destination resort that drew people from the city of Knoxville for rest and relaxation. The focal point of this neighborhood is the Fountain City Lake, greenway and art center.
