Old Sevier
Located just across the Gay Street Bridge, there is perhaps no area of Knoxville that has experienced more change and redevelopment than Old Sevier in recent years. Sevier Avenue has always been this waterfront community’s main corridor, and the neighborhood is comprised of single family homes built in the early part of the 20th century as well as newer apartments and condos, with much of the remnants of its industrial past moving away. South Knoxville Elementary, Stanley’s Greenhouses, and Suttree Landing Park, and many other local businesses are within Old Sevier’s borders. Some of the most beautiful views of downtown are seen from Old Sevier, from both the homes high on the ridge as well as from the parts of the neighborhood along the Tennessee River.
