Project Description

Lisa is an architect by trade and lives in the beautiful community of North Hills near downtown Knoxville. Although she technically came to Knoxville ten years ago to teach at The University of Tennessee, her real motivation came from the amazing natural beauty of the region, the historic neighborhoods, and the great local vibe of Knoxville. She and her husband run a small architecture firm in Knoxville and have recently designed and renovated several mid-century modern houses.
Born in Washington, DC she moved to London right after graduating with a degree in interior design from the University of Maryland, where she worked for a short time and took an immersion course in historic preservation at the Royal Academy of Art. After a stint in New York, she returned home to get a graduate degree in architecture, where she met her future husband. Together they moved to San Francisco, where they started their firm Mullikin + Stevens, and Lisa got to participate on some award-winning renovation projects. In 2002 she and Kevin moved to Louisiana to teach full time, and after twelve years, came to Tennessee. The decades of teaching and working with historic buildings have given her a lifelong love of history and people. Her transition to real estate was a natural progression. Her long and varied career has given her a deep appreciation of the ritual of coming home and the importance living in a place that has meaning and resonates with enduring values.
Lisa is also a painter and has exhibited her work at several venues in downtown Knoxville. Her subjects vary from abstract to landscape, but often they are tied to her dogs, Opie the Catahoula, and Pearl the Lab mix, and sometimes her cat if she will tolerate being a model.

“ Lisa helped me purchase my first home! She was great with someone who has little experience of the real estate market and how mortgages work. She responds promptly to communication and is friendly and knowledgeable!“
“Lisa was such a blessing to our family. Her architecture and design professional credentials helped her to see and enhance the charm of our home for showing, all the while respecting and collaborating with the vision of my elderly parents, who have taken such loving care of the home for so many years.”
